Light- Bridge 2012, Baltimore, MD

The four teams from Dr. Tate's MFGE 4367 course competed in SAMPE ‘Lightweight Bridge Building Contest’ annual conference in Baltimore, MD on May 23rd, 2012. All these four teams competed in different category namely open design, I-beam natural, I-beam carbon, and square natural fiber category. Names of the student those who were participated in the competition: Matt Andrews, Isidro Rosas, Henry Henze, Smith Brett, Justin Chance.

None of the team won the cash prize, but their performance was good. They stood on good rank as compared other bridges in competition in every category. It should be noted that many participants had access to high-tech composites facilities such as autoclave.

Two students, Swapnil Gaikwad and Isidro Rosas travelled to Baltimore to watch the performance of their bridges. Also they received opportunity to visit exhibit hall where 150+ companies exhibited their products.
