Equipment

Prior to using any equipment all faculty, staff, and students have to undergo safety training. The training programs are provided by the Ingram School of Engineering, and by Environmental Health Safety and Risk Management. All students and visitors need to pass examinations in these areas and be trained how to use equipment before they start using facilities. All labs where there are hazardous materials and safety concerns are inspected monthly for proper storage, handling and disposal of these materials. Deficiencies are reported to lab manager and head of the department. In case these deficiencies are not addressed on time, then use of particular equipment or entire lab is not allowed.

The equipment is divided into following groups. Please, refer to the short description and specifications of equipment in Advanced Composites Lab, ARSC, and Maker Space here . Please, follow the links or open designated banners under equipment bar in the navigation.

SM-8200 Digital Super Megohmmeter

The SM-8200 Digital Super Megohmmeter series are insulation resistance meters consisting of a constant voltage power supply and a high sensitivity current measuring element, and are designed to measure the electrical resistance of insulation materials with high insulating properties. When paired with super megohmmeters, the Hioki-SM8310 can measure the surface and volume resistance of plate samples. It is particularly useful when high insulation resistance cannot be properly measured due to effects from noise and induction hum in the measuring environment.
